Our OLR Church

We're proud to highlight several happenings at Our Lady of the Rosary Parish.

Each week we try to publish our news sheet for that week via this page. See 'Bulletin Sheet' for more information.

Usually next Sunday’s news sheet is posted late in the week, around Thursday evening or Friday morning.

  • 1. Message from Fr. Brendan for the week

June 23-24: Birth of John the Baptist.

    Dear Parishioners,

Congratulations to Kathy and Bill Faulkner on the  occasion of their 50th anniversary of marriage last Friday.

Peter’s Pence: Today we have our annual Peter’s Pence to support the Pope’s world-wide charities. Thank you for your support.

A very warm welcome to all visitors to the parish for the Don Bosco Youth Centre 25th anniversary celebrations.  Welcome to Bishop Bede Heather, bishop of Parramatta twenty five years ago, who gave such encouragement and practical to the Youth Centre project.

Welcome to Father Peter Williams, Vicar General of the Parramatta diocese, who was present at the opening in 1993, representing Bishop Vincent.

Welcome to Father Peter Kerin SDB, who planned the youth centre, oversaw its construction and was the first Centre director.

Welcome to Brother Stan Rossato SDB, who began with Father Peter and took over as youth centre director when Father Peter became parish priest of this parish. Brother Stan was director and backbone of the Centre for many years.

Welcome to our Salesian Sisters; Provincial Sister Edna Mary MacDonald, the Sisters from Engadine and others who have worked in the Centre over the past 25 years.

Welcome to Father Frank Bertagnolli SDB, rector of Boys Town Engadine in the planning and construction phase of the Centre, who was also involved in initial planning.   Welcome back to recent St Marys Salesian rector, Father Shane Reade.

Congratulations: A big congratulations to Father John, Sister Jenny and the Youth Centre team who have been working so hard to prepare for this weekend.

EOFY: Next weekend I intend to place before you a few thoughts on the present situation concerning the church refurbishment, the proposed electronic noticeboard and some other matters. In the meantime, thank you to those who have offered feedback concerning the noticeboard  proposal.
